content="Welcome to Norway´s forgotten freeride heaven." />

The mountains surrounding Vatnahalsen and the Flåm Railway are perfect for freeriding.

The area lies in the western part of Skarvheimen, where the western and eastern weather systems meet. This provides the area with snow from both weather systems, and usually keeps snow conditions excellent throughout the winter. Slightly east of Vatnahalsen lies the Storeskavlen glacier, which keeps the snow cool and stable.

Vatnahalsen Mountain Lodge is located at 820 meters above sea level, and is surrounded by majestic mountains reaching altitudes of 1750 meters. All terrain is easily accessible from the lodge. We strap on our skis right at the doorstep, and ascend directly to peaks that offer 700–1000 altitude meters of freeskiing.

When the weather and snow conditions allow us, we can hike 6–700 meters from the lodge and then ski about 1000 altitude meters down to the Flåm Valley. At the bottom we´ll just board the Flåm Railway and enjoy the view as we´re brought back to Vatnahalsen along the most beautiful train ride in the world. We´ll make 2 runs per day from the highest peaks to the bottom of the Flåm Valley. This combination of skiing and train is unique in a Norwegian context.

  The terrain at Vatnahalsen provides ample opportunities for varied descents and excellent skiing in most weather and snow conditions.
